Bhubaneswar: Stepping towards preventive health care for mothers and kids, the intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) 4.0 has been rolled out across Odisha from 7 March for boosting 100% immunisation coverage of the targeted women and children, said the State government on Tuesday.

"According to the data of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS)-5, Odisha topped the list at the national level in full immunisation coverage with 90.5 percent of full immunisation," Raj Kumar Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family Welfare, said.

Following a review of the progress made thus far, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra recommended that community leaders, PRI members, NGOs, ASHA, and Anganwadi workers be actively involved in strengthening awareness and mobilisation initiatives on the ground.

He also directed concerned departments, particularly the departments of women and child welfare, panchayati raj and drinking water, school and mass education, scheduled tribe, scheduled caste and minorities development, labour and ESI,  housing and urban development, sports and youth affairs, information and public relations, to ensure convergence at the ground zero level, in accordance with the micro plans, and that no eligible child or pregnant mother is left without full benefits. "Ongoing COVID immunisation does not get affected during the course of this Mission," Mahapatra added.
