Madras High Court gives a big blow to Patanjali's 'coronil'

Chennai: Now big news has come about the treatment of Yoga Guru Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. - Coronil, offered as a treatment for Covid-19. This medicine has received a major setback from the Madras High Court. It is being told that the company has now been stopped from using the trademark 'Coronil'. Justice CV Karthikeyan has taken this decision after the application of Chennai-based company Arudra Engineering Limited.

He has issued this interim order till 30 July. According to the information received, recently Arudra Engineering Limited said that 'coronil' is its trademark since 1993. If the company believes, then according to the company, in 1993, it had registered 'coronil-213 SPL' and 'coronil-92B' and it has been renewing it ever since. This company works to make chemicals and sanitizers to clean heavy machines and disinfected units.

Recently, the company said, "At present, our right on this trademark is valid till 2027." The Ministry of AYUSH gave a statement on July 1 after Patanjali introduced Coronil. In his statement, he had said that the company can sell this medicine as an anti-inflammatory agent and not for the treatment of Covid-19'.
