Himanta Sarma becomes 15th CM of Assam, Nadda was at oath ceremony

Guwahati: Himanta Biswa Sarma has took oath as the Chief Minister of Assam on Monday. BJP national president JP Nadda as well as several other leaders were present at the ceremony. Sarma was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi. The BJP had won the Assam election results for the second time in a row on May 2.

North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma was unanimously elected leader of the BJP Legislature Party on Sunday.  Before taking oath, Sarma visited the Dol Gobinda Temple and Kamakhya Temple today. He was handling the Health Ministry in the previous Government of Assam. Sarbananda Sonowal was the Chief Minister of the state at that time. Himanta Biswa Sarma has become the 15th CM of Assam. The new cabinet was sworn in at Shankardev Kalakshetra. 

Himanta Biswa Sarma was born on 1st February, 1969. His father's name is Kailash Nath Sarma and mother's name is Mrinalini Devi. Sarma received his early education from Kamrup Academy School in Guwahati. He then studied LLB from Government Law College and then received a PhD degree from Guwahati University. Sarma also practiced law in the Guwahati High Court between 1996 and 2001.
