Union Home Minister and chairman of the North Eastern Council (NEC) Amit Shah termed the North Eastern Region as the ‘new engine’ of development for the country. He assured that the PM led Government is making efforts to promote the Northeast on world map and bringing progress and prosperity in the region. Shah inaugurated the 69th NEC plenary session in Shillong on Saturday. Shah said the Central government has been focusing towards making the region an engine of growth and overall development. Shah said, “The region which was neglected for decades has witnessed unprecedented peace and development under PM Modi." Stating that the Centre has been working tirelessly bring development in the Northeast, Shah said that the NEC has played a crucial role in fuelling the economic growth of the region.
