New Delhi: The Home Ministry has written a letter to all the Chief Secretaries of the Union Territories and the Diocese directing them to sensitize the police and jail authorities in this regard. The ministry has also said that all states need to protect and rehabilitate transgenders. The Ministry of Home Affairs wrote in its letter that, "Law/state governments/governments are not committed to the law. The Union territories ordered adequate steps not only for welfare measures. Also asks for steps to protect, protect and rehabilitate transgender people. The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that under Section 18 of the Transgenders (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, it is a punishable offense in the event of the Government forcing or tampering with a transgender person for coercion or involvement in the work of bonded labor other than any compulsory service for public purposes." While giving information about the Act, the MHA said that if one deprives a transgender person of the right to go to a public place or prevents a person from going or using a public place where other members have the right to access or use, it also falls under the category of a punishable offense.
