CHHOTAUDEPUR: In a shocking case of an ‘honour killing’, a man was shot dead by his wife's brother as the latter's family was opposed to their love marriage in Gujarat's Chhotaudepur district. On Thursday night, a person identified as Sachin Rathva was taken into custody in the village of Kikavda for the murder of his brother-in-law Sunil Rathva on his property. Police have also recovered the gun used for the commission of crime. The victim Sunil and his sister Sneha were in love, Sachin admitted to police during his initial questioning by Police Inspector A C Parmar. They got married about a year and a half ago, and she then went back to live with her parents. A few months later, she moved into Sunil's home and began living there, which the family found unacceptable. "For almost one year, I thought about taking revenge from Sunil for marrying my sister without family's consent," Sachin told police. Sneha, who was eight months pregnant, informed reporters that her brother Sachin came to her house and started searching for her husband. She and her husband attempted to flee to their farm when they saw a gun in his hand, but in vain. Sunil was killed as a result of Sachin chasing him, shooting at him, and beating him with a gun baton, according to Sneha.
