Pakur: 16 persons were killed in a major road accident in Pakur in Jharkhand on Wednesday morning. The bus from Sahibganj to Dumka collided with a truck loaded with gas cylinders near Paderkola on Littipada-Amdapara Road. More than 40 persons have been reported to be onboard the bus. About 20 persons are injured. Pakur SP HP Janardhan said that 16 bodies have been recovered so far. The evacuation of people from inside the bus is still going on. The collision was so dangerous that both the vehicles were blown away. Many people came out of the bus and fell. Many people on the bus were trapped inside. The body of the bus is being cut off and the persons are being evacuated. The driver of the bus is said to be alive so far. He is trapped in the bus. Locals said the number of people killed in the accident is expected to rise. The collision between the Krishna Rajat bus and a truck full of LPG cylinders was said to be so dangerous that the trials of both vehicles were blown away. Police have sent the bodies for postmortem. The identity of the deceased is yet to be assigned. The injured have been taken to hospital. Locals were the first to reach the spot as soon as the news of the accident was received. Even before the administration and police arrived, they were engaged in relief and rescue operations. A team of senior officials of district administration and police administration has also reached the spot after the accident.
