'I will meet you lying on the roadside', says Atiq Ahmed who predicted his death 19 years ago

Lucknow: After the murder of former MP and mafia figure Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, an old statement of a mafia don is going viral in the media. In this statement, Atiq himself is saying that he is not going to die a normal death; either the police will encounter him or someone will kill him.

As per reports, Ateeq Ahmed made the prediction about himself in 2004 while campaigning in his parliamentary constituency, Phulpur. Today, this prediction has come true. According to media reports, Atiq then said, "Either I will have an encounter, or the police will kill me, or someone will kill the head of his own community. We met lying on the roadside. Similarly, the report mentions another meeting, when Ateeq was asked about his end. Even at that time, Atiq had accepted that he was a criminal and that his end was not going to be normal. Atiq had said, 'Everyone knows what the outcome is going to be. Until it can be avoided, this is its struggle.

Atiq Ahmed once gave a statement about contesting from the Phulpur parliamentary constituency. This is the same area that was once represented by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first PM of India. In such a situation, Atiq had said, 'Like Pandit ji, we have also been in Naini Jail. He had written the book there, and we had to go because of our history sheet.
