IAS Officer Quits Job, Gave This Reason

New Delhi: A young IAS officer coming from Kerala has resigned from his job. He is a non-informer of the 2012 batch. He was presently posted in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. The reason for the resignation was the freedom of expression. The young officer, who was ranked 59th in the 2012 Civil Services Examination, said he had joined the civil service with the hope that he would be able to become the voice of those who were silenced but here, he lost his own voice.

He said that he wants back his freedom of expression. He wants to live his way, even if it is for a day. Kannan was a secretary in Power and Non-Conventional of Energy these days. Prior to becoming IAS, he did electric engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and later worked as a design engineer in a private company.

In an interview to a local Malayalam website, he said that when one of the largest democracies in the world imposes sanctions on the entire state and even violates the fundamental rights of the people, they should at least be able to respond to their own. They are leaving the job. Kannan came into the limelight during the devastating floods in Kerala in 2018.

They had put relief material on their shoulders and transported them to the people. His work was lauded across the country. Apart from this, during the Lok Sabha elections, he had complained to the Central Election Commission about the top officials of the present Union Territory and efforts are being made to influence them.
