Due to collusion in government departments in Lucknow and ignoring the officers, the land of the irrigation department in the capital has been illegally occupied at 44 places which have now become a matter of concern for the government. Encroachments are erected on government lands and encroachments have also engulfed the river-canals. Now, Water Power Minister Dr. Mahendra Singh has instructed to campaign in the entire state including Lucknow from March 15 to free the lands of the irrigation department. 58 contracts signed in last 3 financial years for defence equipment procurement The land of the Department of Irrigation is flooded with illegal occupations in the entire state including the capital. Illegal occupation has been identified in more than one and a half thousand places in the entire state. Taking cognizance of complaints of illegal occupation, on Monday, Water Power Minister Dr. Mahendra Singh directed to conduct a state-wide campaign in a review meeting at Yojana Bhawan, which will start from the capital. The minister said that the names of illegal occupants should be publicized on social media by putting them on the website. Till March 10, if people do not remove the possession themselves, then take strict action. For the campaign, a task force has been formed under the chairmanship of DM Lucknow Abhishek Prakash. Police commissioner Sujit Pandey said that the irrigation department would be given police permanently if needed. Mandalayukt Mukesh Meshram said that action will be taken against the occupants under the land mafia. In Lucknow too, there are occupations in Sarojninagar, Sadar and Mohanlalganj tehsils. There is encroachment at many places along the Gomti shore. Real state colonies and parks are being developed in some places. A prominent businessman has set up his apartment on the land of the irrigation department which is currently sealed. 'Stop wasteful expense of printing own diaries, calendars' Govt directs to ministries A total of 1772 properties of the Irrigation Department in the state are in illegal possession in this matter, which have been instructed to constitute teams across the state to free them. Principal Secretary T. Venkatesh assured that every effort will be made to preserve the property worth Rs 400 crore of the department. Water Power Minister Dr. Mahendra Singh said that the illegal occupants are being listed. The names of all will be put on the website of the irrigation department and will be exposed through the media so that they can remove the occupation themselves under social pressure.
