Ahmedabad: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday (October 29) slammed the BJP over the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. Kejriwal said that BJP has bad intentions. There is a BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, but the BJP is not implementing the Uniform Civil Code in UP and Madhya Pradesh. The national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that after the elections, the committee of Gujarat will also go to its home. However, Kejriwal supported the Civil Uniform Code, saying that as per the provision of the Constitution, it should be implemented throughout the country. Kejriwal said that are you waiting for the Lok Sabha elections? He said that go and ask BJP whether Kejriwal is saying that you do not have to implement UCC or your intention is bad. Let us tell you that the Gujarat government has decided to do UCC in the state. A high-level committee has been constituted for this. Before the Gujarat assembly elections, it is being considered a master stroke by the BJP. The state government on Saturday informed about the decision to constitute a committee to implement the UCC. The proposal for the formation of the committee was cleared during the state cabinet meeting held on Saturday. This is believed to be the last meeting of the Bhupendra Patel-led cabinet, as the schedule for the state elections is expected to be announced next week. Giving information about this decision, Gujarat's Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi and Union Minister Purushottam Rupala said that the committee will be constituted before the model code of conduct for the elections is implemented.
