Why 15th August is selected as independence day, know reason

India celebrates Independence every year on August 15. Independence Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. On Independence Day, the flag is hoisted from the Red Fort by the Prime Minister of India every year. On August 15, 1947, the country was declared independent by the British by handing over the command of the country's rule to Indians. However, have you ever wondered why the 15th of August was chosen for India's independence? So let's find out about this...

In fact, Lord Mountbatten was ordered by the British Parliament to transfer India's power to The Indian people by June 30, 1948. Mountbatten was appointed as India's last Viceroy in 1947. It was by Lord Mountbatten that India's independence was chosen on the 15th of August.

Historians also believe that c Rajagopalachari chose this date for India's independence by Mountbatten at the suggestion of C Rajagopalachari. Lord Mountbatten was told by C Rajagopalachari that there would be no power to transfer if waited until June 30, 1948. So with this in mind, Mountbatten was elected to India's independence on August 15. The Indian Independence Bill was introduced in the British House of Commons on July 4, 1947. The bill proposed the bifurcation of India and the creation of a new country, Pakistan. The bill was adopted on July 18, 1947, and India's Independence was declared at midnight on August 15, 1947, after splitting on August 14, 1947, and since then India has been celebrating its independence.
