New Delhi: India has once again been elected as a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO for the years 2021 to 2025. Executive board members were elected on Wednesday. India's permanent delegation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) tweeted, "164 votes were cast in favour of India being elected a member of the UNESCO Executive Board for the year 2021-25". India was elected back to Group FOUR of the Asian and Pacific states, including Japan, Philippines, Vietnam, Cook Islands and China. Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday expressed appreciation for the selection and tweeted praise for the better work done by India's permanent delegation to the Ministry of External Affairs and UNESCO. He tweeted, 'India's permanent delegation to the Ministry of External Affairs and UNESCO, you have done a great job'. Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi has thanked the countries for supporting India's candidature. She tweeted, "It is a matter of great pleasure to inform that India has made it to the Executive Board of UNESCO.
