New Delhi: Pollution is still wreaking havoc in Delhi-NCR. The Central and Provincial Governments are taking various measures to reduce pollution. In spite of this, the situation is not showing any improvement. People are getting sick due to haze and poor air quality. Some people have also complained of shortness of breath, phlegm and eye irritation. Air purifiers have become a popular commodity at shops due to rapidly increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR.

Air quality in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad and Faridabad was 'very poor'. According to officials in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, the main reason for the increase in pollution in these cities is stubble burning, firecrackers, smoke emanating from power plants and cars. The demand for air purifiers in Delhi-NCR has increased due to pollution. As per available data, Delhi-NCR contributes 70% of the total sales in the country. On the other hand, companies claim that the demand for air purifiers has increased in other parts of the country as well. According to companies, demand for purifiers is expected to increase in the near future.

According to Research and Markets, India's air purifier market will be worth $85 million in FY21. It is estimated to increase to $569 million by 2027. According to the company, an air purifier was one of Panasonic's best selling items during the holiday season. The annual market for air purifiers in India is between Rs 450 and Rs 500 crore. 70% to 80% of air purifiers were sold during the Diwali season. The Delhi-NCR region accounts for 70-80% of the sales of all purifiers in the country.
