Leh: The 16th virtual meeting between India and China over the border dispute took place on Friday. The talks were held at the Foreign Ministry level between the two countries. It was named the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) meeting. This was the second interaction at this level after the open conflict between the two countries. In the previous talks, it was agreed that both countries will respect the border and its actual situation. In order to establish peace on the border, the emphasis was laid on ending tension completely. The Joint Secretary (East Asia) of the Ministry of External Affairs from India attended this meeting. While on behalf of China, the Director-General of the Boundary and Oceanic Department of the Foreign Ministry attended the meeting. After reviewing the condition of the border, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that both sides will withdraw their forces on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and all protocols will be adopted for peace restoration along the border, respecting bilateral agreements. The statement said that China has agreed to restore peace on the outskirts to strengthen bilateral relations. In this regard, by issuing a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry, it has been said that the talks on both sides were open-hearted and very positive.
