India Corona Updates: 17,135 new cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India registered 17,135 new cases of Covid-19  infection in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Wednesday, August 3. On August 2, the country had recorded 13,734 cases of Covid-19. According to the Union Ministry, India now has 1,37,057 active cases, or a 0.31 percent caseload growth rate. In the past 24 hours, 19,823 recoveries have been recorded in India. As of right now, 4,34,03,610 people have recovered from Covid-19, bringing the nation's current recovery rate to 98.49%.

The Health Ministry further stated in its official statement that the weekly positivity rate is 4.67 percent, while the daily positivity rate is 3.69 percent. Under the Center's nationwide vaccination drive, 204.84 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine were given to the public, including 93.36 crore second doses and 9.47 crore precaution doses.

In the past 24 hours, 23,49,651 doses of vaccine were administered to prevent coronavirus infection, it said. In addition, it said that 4,64,919 tests were administered across the past 24 hours alone, out of the 87.63 crore total tests administered in the nation to date.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned on Sunday that the country's war against COVID is still ongoing and that holistic healthcare has had a global influence in this fight as India has continued to record over 10,000 COVID-19 cases over the past few days.

"Holistic healthcare has had a significant global impact in the ongoing fight against COVID. AYUSH is currently gaining popularity around the world,  said Prime Minister Modi while addressing his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat'.
