India reports 37,379 new COVID cases, Omicron cases climb to 1,892

New Delhi: In the past 24 hours, India reported 37,379 new cases of coronavirus, including 124 deaths, according to data released by the Health Ministry on Tuesday. According to the data, a total of 11,007 persons recovered from the infection on Monday, with a daily positive rate of 3.24 percent.

The overall number of active cases in the country today stands at 1,71,830, with 3,43,06,414 recovered. COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 4,82,017 people in India. According to figures from the Health Ministry, the country has provided a total of 1,46,70,18,464 vaccinations.

According to the government of India, around 152.96 crore COVID vaccine doses have been distributed to States/UTs through the government of India (free of cost channel) and direct state procurement categories.

The States/UTs still have a total of 19.69 crore balance and unutilized vaccination doses. Meanwhile, the Union health ministry reported that 1,892 cases of Omicron variant have been found so far across 23 states and Union Territories.
