NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi Chief Minister, stated on Tuesday that he has tested positive for Covid-19 and is experiencing "moderate symptoms."
He took to Twitter to say: " I have tested positive for Covid with mild symptoms, I have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch with me in last few days, kindly isolate yourself and get yourself tested." This comes as the new highly transmissible Omicron strain is causing a Covid-19 revival in Delhi.
On Monday, the national capital reported 4,099 new Covid cases, the highest single-day increase since May 18, 2021, when the total was 4,482, as well as one fatality.
The new cases have brought the total number of infections to 14,58,220, and the total number of people infected to 25,110. Covid infection rates have risen to 6.46 percent, the highest in seven months. On May 18, the Delhi Health Department reported a positive rate of 6.89 percent in the city. So far, 351 Omicron cases have been found in the capital, with 57 of them being released from the hospital.
