The Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, expressed unwavering confidence on Friday, asserting that India, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would soon emerge as a dominant global player in the semiconductor sector. Patel's sentiments were conveyed during his speech at the 'Semicon India 2023,' a compelling exhibition-cum-conference held at the prestigious Mahatma Mandir convention center in partnership with India Semiconductor Mission and various industry associations. The event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi himself, who also graced the occasion with his enlightening address. During his speech, Patel accentuated how India's industrial landscape has been experiencing remarkable growth, all due to the relentless efforts and commitment of PM Modi towards achieving self-reliance, or 'aatmanirbhar' in Hindi. Among the sectors that have long been the focus of India's pursuit is the semiconductor industry, and now, with significant strides made over the past few years, the nation is approaching a point of global recognition. Elaborating further, Patel mentioned a pivotal milestone - the signing of a momentous MoU between the Gujarat government and Micron, a prominent computer storage chip manufacturer. This historic agreement paves the way for a colossal USD 2.75 billion semiconductor facility to be established at Sanand, near Ahmedabad. This ambitious project will make Gujarat the first state in India to boast a large-scale semiconductor manufacturing facility, marking an unprecedented achievement. Micron Technology, renowned as a global leader in semiconductor memory chips, announced its decision to set up this manufacturing facility in India, and the privilege of being the host state was bestowed upon Gujarat. Patel proudly hailed this milestone, expressing his conviction that Gujarat's status as a semiconductor hub would soon be realized, thanks to the determination and vision of Prime Minister Modi. In line with the Prime Minister's vision, the Gujarat government has taken a momentous step by unveiling a dedicated 'Semiconductor Policy.' The policy aims to transform Gujarat into a thriving hub for semiconductor manufacturing, offering a host of enticing benefits and incentives to attract prospective investors. Among the strategic locations, Dholera SIR stands out, boasting state-of-the-art facilities that render it an ideal destination for the semiconductor industry. Patel wholeheartedly extended an invitation to global players, urging them to invest in Gujarat and be part of this groundbreaking journey. Concluding on an optimistic note, Patel also extended a warm invitation to industry leaders to join the tenth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, scheduled to take place next year. The summit promises to be a grand confluence of innovative ideas and opportunities, shaping the future of Gujarat and beyond. PM Modi Urges Global Chipmakers: Invest in India Now!
