New Delhi: The Government of India has issued a final notice to Twitter to comply with the new IT rules. Under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, all social media platforms were asked to comply with the new IT rules of the Government of India on which a notice has been sent to Twitter. The notice said Twitter has not shared any information related to the Chief Compliance Officer to be appointed under the new IT rules and the Resident Defense Officer and nodal contact person appointed by Twitter are also not Twitter employees. The notice said Twitter will be responsible for the upcoming results if it is unable to comply under the new IT rules. Earlier on June 4, micro-blogging platform Twitter removed the blue tick by putting the handle of Vice President of India and Rajya Sabha President M Venkaiah Naidu in the category of 'Unverified'. After the controversy, the Twitter has now restored the blue tick by re verify vice president M Venkaiah Naidu's handle, admitting his mistake. Apart from Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu, micro blogging platform Twitter has also targeted Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders. Twitter has removed the blue badge from the handles of 5 big RSS leaders, put them in the category of 'Unverified'.
