New Delhi: A Frontline Indian Warship of the Indian Navy is participating in the first Naval Exercise with Saudi Arabia. The naval exercise shows the growing defense ties between the two sides in view of Indian Army Chief MM Narwane's first visit to the West Asian country last year. The Indian navy's leading destroyer INS Kochi, Al-Mohad al-Hindi arrived at Port Al-Jubail on Monday for the 2021 exercise (Al-Mohed Al-Hindi Exercise). The warship left for Saudi Arabia on Saturday after conducting a Zayed Talwar Drill exercise with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) off the coast of Abu Dhabi. India's defense and military ties with Saudi Arabia have been strengthened after Indian army chief general MM Narwane's visit to Riyadh. This was the first such visit by an Indian Army Chief in December last year. Narwane also visited UAE on the same tour. Al-Mohad al-Hindi exercise began with the Harbour Phase on Monday. The Indian Embassy said the drill heralds a new chapter in bilateral defense relations.
