Big achievement for India, First private rocket Vikram S launched

New Delhi: Today on November 18, India's first private rocket Vikram S has been launched. The rocket, made by Skyroot, a private startup company in Hyderabad, was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Center, ISRO's launching center in Sriharikota. Along with this, the entry of private rocket companies has started in India's space technology. India has now joined those few countries where even private companies launch their big rockets. It is being called a big success of India.

What is Vikram S?

Vikram S is named in memory of ISRO founder Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. There are 3 types of rockets to be launched in the Vikram series, which have been developed to carry small-size satellites. Vikram-1 is the first rocket in this series. It is said that Vikram-2 and 3 can deliver heavy weights to the lower orbit of the earth. Vikram S can deliver three satellites to the lower orbit of the earth. Out of these 3, one is of a foreign company while the remaining 2 are satellites of Indian companies. Skyroot has already told that the rocket has been successfully tested in May 2022. The company has named its mission 'Prarambh'.

According to Skyroot's statement, Vikram S was to be launched between November 12 and 16 but due to bad weather, it will be launched on November 18. Billionaire Elum Musk's Space X company made international headlines for its recent rocket launching in the US. Looks like this trend has reached India as well. Former ISRO scientists Pawan Kumar Chandan and Naga Bharat Daka founded Skyroot Aerospace as a startup in 2018. Its CEO Pawan Kumar Chandan told that many technical facilities were provided by ISRO for this mission. He says, ''ISRO has charged a very nominal fee for this.''
