GENEVA: Despite a powerful global campaign against its farmers and fishermen, India was able to get a favourable outcome at the WTO after many years, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, following the end of the WTO's 12th Ministerial Conference in Geneva. "Big win for our fishing community! The outcome of the @WTO fisheries meeting reflects India's steady and thoughtful stance. We are committed to ensuring that our 90 lakh fisherman have a bright future, In a tweet, he stated. Goyal described the just-concluded MC12 as a "outcome-oriented" success, saying the Indian team, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was "100% successful" in portraying the top problems for India and the developing nations before the world. He said that the Indian delegation capitalised on India's excellent international contacts, which PM Modi has cultivated over the last few years. "Initially on Sunday and Monday, a few countries attempted to build a false campaign claiming that India is obstinate and that no progress is being achieved.. The real scenario has arisen in front of us all, and the concerns presented by India, on which the Prime Minister had urged us to focus, are now recognised by the entire world as the correct agenda, with India playing a key role in achieving all solutions " Goyal stated at press conference in Geneva.
