Lucknow: Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind will provide legal assistance to two accused arrested in Lucknow by Uttar Pradesh ATS for belonging to Ansar Ghazvatul hind, branch of terrorist outfit Al Qaeda. Jamiat Ulema Legal Imdad Committee Chief Gulzar Azmi informed on Wednesday (July 14, 2021) that the family members of two Muslim youths who were arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on terrorism charges have sought legal help from Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. According to media reports, Siraj Ahmed, father of Minhaj Ahmed, who was accused in Gulzar Azmi's name letter, wrote, "My son Minhaj Ahmed was forcibly arrested by the ATS department on charges of terrorism. I myself was a government servant and am grateful to Allah that my life is clean in every way and I have brought up my son well. I kept him away from the company of the wrong people. I urge you to help my son and give me an opportunity to express my gratitude by helping me in this case. I'm not qualified to fight the case. Allah will give you a great reward instead.'' Jamiat Ulema Legal Imdad Committee Chairman Gulzar Azmi said that legal help will be provided to the accused on the orders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Chairman Maulana Arshad Madani after receiving the request. Madani further said that hundreds of youths have so far been released in terrorism cases through Jamiat efforts, which proves that investigating agencies arrest them on the basis of religious bias without evidence and after a long time the courts acquit them honorably.
