Desi TikTok may launch in India, Infosys Chairman gave hint

New Delhi: Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani said that India can create apps like Tick Talk, but designing a business model for apps is not easy. Now that TikTok and 58 other Chinese apps have been banned in India, there is talk of making a replacement app in the country.

Talking to a private news channel, Infosys chairman said on Saturday that it is possible to create an app like Tick Talk in India in any way, but designing a business model for apps is a big challenge as India is still a big digital advertising There is no Market and applications like TikTok depend on advertising. He said that we have to understand the business model of other apps like TikTok. Like Facebook and Google, TikTok also earns through advertising.

He said that Zhang Yiming, founder of BiteDance, the company that owns the Tick Talk app, is counted among the top 20 nobles of the rich list. He said that India is yet to become a big digital advertising market like China and America. The total advertising spend in India in TV, print and digital is around 10-12 billion dollars and on digital platforms it is around 2-3 billion dollars. So essentially most of these products in India are not able to earn, but they are here for strategic reasons because they want to build a large user base.
