CHANDIGARH: A three-day International Gita Mahotsav commenced on September 16 and is to conclude on September 19 at the Parliament House in the Canadian capital Ottawa with the message of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar read out.
On this holy occasion, the Bhagavad Gita was placed in the library of the Canadian Parliament after Sonya, chief of Parliament Library, received its copy from Gita Manishi Swami Shri Gyananand and India-born Canadian parliament member Chandra Arya.
Later on at the event, Swami Shri Gyananand said that the Bhagavad Gita significane increased in the modern era. Everyone should live their lives as per its teachings.
"The Bhagavad Gita's message must be disseminated throughout the entire planet. Programs for the International Gita Mahotsav (IGM) are being organised for this reason "Swami Shri Gyananand said.
The performance also featured the reading of a message from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau greeting everyone to Parliament Hill.
The Prime Minister said that such occasions not only bring Canadians spitirually united but also greatly encourage them to celebrate their diversity.
He congratulated everyone who participated in this important day and said that the Bhagavad Gita's message of peace, love, and fraternity is universal.
Children from the Chinmaya Mission performed a cultural programme and recited a Gita shloka, which was followed by a classical dance performance.
