NEW DELHI: Every central government ministry has been engaged in its efforts to tackle the ongoing recession in the country. Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad will meet CEOs of electronic companies on Monday next week. It will discuss industry concerns, measures to boost the growth of the electronic sector and improve the export scenario. An official involved in the case said that the IT minister has invited top electronics industry leaders and heads of Apple, Samsung, Flextronics, Foxconn, Dell, Ericsson, Intel and other companies for the meeting. About 50 companies have been asked to join the discussion. The objective of the discussions is to promote the policy environment for the electronics sector and to improve the export scenario. Industry associations such as Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA), Electronics Industries Association of India, (ELCINA) and India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) are also expected to attend the meeting. The Government had recently come out with a National Electronics Policy. It aims to boost domestic manufacturing and exports to the electronics manufacturing system at Rs 28.43 lakh crore by 2025. The official said the round table meeting with electronic sector giants will focus on understanding the concerns of the industry. It will also discuss suggestions to ensure a conducive policy environment for the electronics industry. Many industries in the country are reeling under recession in the current phase.
