Mumbai: On the issue of former Maharashtra CM and former Shiv Sena leader Narayan Rane joining the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar said that he did not know whether his decision was wrong or a big mistake. Narayan Rane joined the Congress in 2005 while he also had the option of joining the NCP. Sharad Pawar said this on the occasion of the release of Narayan Rane's autobiography. Sharad Pawar said, I cannot explain why he has chosen the Congress.

I cannot say whether it was a mistake or a big mistake. The NCP Chief said that i had told Narayan Rane that the Congress did not do such a thing when the Congress promised him to be the CM. I know because I have spent a long time of my life with the Congress. Rane said that when I became an MLA, I wanted to be a minister and when I became the minister, I wanted to be the Chief Minister and I was also there. Now, I am an MP, but not by my will.

Former CM Rane said he feels bad that most of his life was wasted and is still wasted. Former BJP President and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was also present at the function. Former CM Rane left the Congress in 2017 and formed the Maharashtra Swabhiman Party and later became an ally of the ruling BJP. He is now a Rajya Sabha MP from BJP. Rane's son Nilesh Rane is also an MLA from the Congress. Rane is considered to have a good hold in the Konkan region.
