'It’s important to have confidence' says Hardik Pandya ahead of World Cup 2019

The selectors have announced the Indian squad for the World Cup 2019. Among many cricketers who were certain of their ticket to England, was Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hardik Pandya – who has been in destructive form with the bat for the three-time champions in the 12th edition of the lucrative tournament. When asked about his current form, Hardik said that he would like to take the confidence going into the world cup.

After the post-match presentation, Pandya said, “It’s pretty important to have the confidence behind you because World Cup is a big stage. It is for the first time that I am playing. And for me, it was important to keep hitting the ball well because I was away from game for some time. Coming back, it was important for me.”

Up against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Hardik once again unleashed some breathtaking strokes during his unbeaten 37 off 16 balls.Chasing a competitive 171-run total, MI needed 22 runs off the last 12 balls. In a tournament which has seen shocking collapses from several teams, Hardik ensured there was no such case with his team as he took left-arm spinner Pawan Negi to the cleaners in the 19th over to help the hosts chased down the target with one over remaining.

Hardik Pandya further added,  “I have been doing this for almost four years now for any team I have played for. I have been practicing in the net the same thing. It’s all about the situation. We play according to the situation. If you are smart enough, you will more often get the result which you desire.
