Terrorist was offering Friday prayers in jail, died suddenly

Srinagar: A member of a terror module died suddenly on Friday (August 19, 2022) while offering Friday prayers in Jammu's Kot Bhalwal jail. The terrorist was involved in activities like collecting and supplying explosive materials and weapons coming from abroad near the Pakistan border. According to media reports, explosives were dropped from the international border in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on May 29.  

The NIA, which is investigating the module involved in the same case, had taken the accused into custody in early April. The deceased prisoner was a resident of Rampura village in Kathua district and is said to be 36 years old. The name of the deceased prisoner is Muni Mohammad, who suffered a heart attack while offering Friday prayers. A jail official had told the media that muni Mohammad, an undertrial, was offering namaz with the rest of the inmates when he suddenly collapsed. He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The suspected terrorist was charged under sections 121, 121A (conspiracy), 122 of the IPC, section 16, section 18 of the Explosive Substances Act. At the same time, on August 10, he was sent to Kot Bhalwal Jail. The case was registered at Rajbagh police station in Kathua on May 29, 2022. After this, the case was again registered by the NIA on July 30.
