Ranchi: Samaruddin, a cleric of a madrasa in Jharkhand's Garhwa district, has been accused of raping several students studying there. The accused cleric is originally from West Bengal. The number of students concerned is said to be around 6. On complaining, the cleric also beat up the family members of the children. The incident took place on Sunday (February 19). The cleric is said to be on the run since the case was registered. According to reports, the incident took place in Koindi village under the Nagaruntari police station area of Garhwa. Here, Maulvi Samaruddin of West Bengal had been teaching Islam to children in a madrasa called Darul Uloom Samasia for many years. About 50 children study in this madrasa. It is alleged that on Sunday (February 19) night, Samaruddin called three children studying in the madrasa to his room. Then he sent two children out and stopped one inside. After some time, the cleric asked the child to give him a massage. According to the report, while the child was doing a massage, the cleric tried to misbehave with him. When the child protested and informed his family about the cleric's act. The child's family members came to the madrasa with a complaint, the cleric gathered many of his supporters present in the village. It is alleged that the cleric, along with these people, assaulted the family members. The victim's family has also alleged that maulana Ashraf of the same madrasa tried to hush up the case on the spot. But, his attempt failed. Meanwhile, someone informed the police. Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, the police recorded the statements of the madrasa students. According to the report, the cleric has similarly victimized about 6 children. At the same time, the cleric absconded after the case was registered.
