Ranchi: Former Manoharpur MLA senior BJP leader Gurucharan Naik was attacked by Naxalites. Former MLA are safe but Naxalites slit the throats of two police personnel deployed in his security and looted weapons and fled. Gurucharan Naik, who somehow managed to escape from the spot and reached Sonua police station, informed the police about the case. Police are currently investigating the case. On the other hand, BJP has raised slogans against the attack on a former MLA in several districts of the state today, accusing Jharkhand of jungle raj. According to the report, Gurucharan Nayak had gone to attend a football competition as chief guest at Jhilruwan village in the Goilkera police station area. About 15 to 20 Naxalites attacked the former MLA returning home after the football match was over. The Naxalites are said to have been hiding among the people at the football ground. Gurucharan Nayak has been attacked in 2012 before. Political turmoil is expected in the state after the attack on former BJP MLA as BJP has already questioned the Hemant government about the lax state of law and order. Jharkhand BJP president Deepak Prakash said the party will protest in several districts of the state against the incident. BJP legislature party leader Babulal Marandi will also visit the spot.
