Karnataka: CM Bommai hints at lifting of curbs by January 21

BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Wednesday that a decision on abolishing weekend limitations and night curfews will be made on January 21 after consulting experts, implying that the state's curfews will be eased.

"People are speculating that the Covid during the third wave is producing fever and cough, and that they are being treated without the need for hospitalisation. They believe that following Covid's standards would allow them to conduct their daily operations. The public's sentiment has been relayed to the expert group "He went on to say.

The committee has been asked to investigate the demand, and they are currently examining the state's Covid situation. "The specialists' meeting on Friday will provide us with a complete picture. Expert advice would be considered before a decision is made "he stated

"It is our responsibility to preserve lives, and severe measures are being taken to do so. Despite the fact that Covid numbers are increasing, hospitals are not overburdened. We told hospitals to concentrate on OPD treatments "he said.
