Kerala administers 75 pc vaccination against Covid-19: HM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Despite the fact that Kerala has had the highest number of new daily Covid-19 cases in the country for several weeks, State Health Minister Veena George announced tuesday that 75 percent of the population has now received both vaccines.

"With 75 percent receiving both vaccines, a total of 2,00,32,229 people have been fully vaccinated. In terms of the first dose vaccine, Kerala has seen 2,60,09,703 people receive it, or 97.38 percent of the population "George stated.

In comparison to the national scenario, the figures show that 88.33 percent of the population received the first dose, while 58.98 percent received only the second dose. With the Omicron variant affecting Kerala and 15 people testing positive for it thus far, George urged people not to delay taking the second dose and stated that the state currently has a stock of one million doses of vaccines.

Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, and Kannur districts have now achieved 100 percent coverage for the first dose. In terms of gender, 2,40,42,684 women and 2,19,87,271 men have already received vaccine doses. People who have tested positive for Covid, according to George, can resume taking their dose after three months.
