New Delhi: The battle for the Congress President's election is getting more and more interesting. There may be a contest between Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot. Tharoor has geared up for this. Congress Legislature Party meeting is to be held in Jaipur today, in which new CM and resignation of Gehlot can be announced in Rajasthan. Meanwhile, many party leaders have come out in support of Gehlot, calling him loyal to the Nehru-Gandhi family. Congress MP from Kerala Kannoth Muraleedharan has said that 'Congress MP Tharoor can contest the election of party president, because Sonia Gandhi has clearly said that anyone can contest this election.' Revealing the possibility of Gehlot winning, Muraleedharan said, 'Ashok Gehlot openly said that he supports the Nehru-Gandhi family. In such a situation, if he nominates, then our vote will go in favour of Ashok Gehlot. He is a senior person and a capable person to handle the post.' He said that 'Rahul Gandhi will lead the party, but he will not take an official post'. With former Congress president Rahul Gandhi emphasizing on implementing the principle of 'one man-one post' in the party, several ministers in the Rajasthan government also advocated for Ashok Gehlot to be retained as both the CM and the party's national president.
