Constitution helps to rob the common man, was written by copying the British system

Kochi: Saji Cheriyan, culture minister in the Kerala government, has raised a hue and cry by saying that the Indian Constitution has helped loot the working class in the last 75 years. He has said that we blindly copied the British system and wrote the Constitution. It never gives any protection against exploitation. Rather, it only helps in looting the common man and the working class.

Addressing an event organised by the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) at Mallappally in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, state Culture Minister Saji Cherian said, "We often say that it is a beautiful Constitution. But we blindly imitated the British system and wrote our own Constitution. It never provides any protection against exploitation. It helps in looting the common man and the working class.''

He further said, "The Constitution was corrected by connecting democracy and secularism here and there, to make it beautiful. But the exploitative part is very clear. We proudly followed the system for 75 years.'' At the same time, after this comment, the Congress-led opposition asked CM Pinarayi Vijayan to sack the minister who "insulted the Constitution". Leader of opposition V D Satheesan said, "He has no right to continue in office.''
