Lawyer suspended after being seen Intimate with Woman at Virtual Hearing

Tamil Nadu: The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry has barred a Madras High Court lawyer from practising after he was caught getting intimate with a woman during an online court proceeding yesterday.

The accused counsel, Advocate Santhana Krishnan, was caught on camera while the court was in session, and the video clip quickly went viral on social media.

As a result of his actions, the Madras High Court bench directed the Bar Council to issue prohibitory orders against him. P N Prakash and R Hemalatha, the portfolio judges, initiated contempt proceedings against Krishnan on their own. They directed the CB-CID wing of the police to open a case, conduct a thorough investigation, and file a report by December 23.

The judges also ordered the Tamil Nadu Bar Council to institute appropriate disciplinary proceedings against the lawyer. The video purportedly showed the lawyer in an intimate position with a woman on Monday, while a judge was hearing a case via video-conferencing. Yesterday, it went viral.
