CHITRADURGA: The Karnataka Police have filed an FIR in relation to "tutoring and encouraging" victims to report rape suspect Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru as a sexual harasser. The police said, Basavaprabhu Swamiji, the in-charge seer of the Murugha Mutt, has filed a complaint against Basavarajendra, a resident of the village of Junjanawadi in the Belagavi district; the mother of one of the victims, who is the complainant in the second POCSO case against the seer; and the members of the Odanadi NGO from Mysuru. The case has been reported to the Chitradurga Rural police, who are now investigating it. The first accused was a teacher at the mutt-run Priyadarshini High School. The second accused held a job as a cook. According to the complaint, the defendants conspired to discredit the seer in order to profit from it. The victim girls were shown being instructed to file a complaint against Shivamurthy Murugha Sharanaru in the 14-minute audio tape. The complaint further said that this was a well-organized plot that was carried out on the orders of powerful interests. Rashmi, the hostel warden, is the second suspect being interrogated by the police. Thursday marks the conclusion of her police detention.
