Long-form tweets, a bookmark button, and other new Twitter features

USA: Twitter, the most widely used microblogging service in the world, is getting a makeover. Twitter will get features like a bookmarks button on tweet details, long-form tweets and an easy swipe option between recommended and followed tweets, company founder and CEO Elon Musk has revealed. Later this week, users should be able to access the first of these features.

Since Musk bought Twitter, the social media site has made significant changes to make it more open and user-friendly. Twitterati have been demanding features like the ability to compose longer tweets and view texts of their choosing for a very long time. The new information provided by Kasturi is both welcome and timely.

Users of Twitter will be able to swipe right or left to switch between followed and recommended tweets. This feature will be available sometime this week. On tweet details, a mute-like bookmark button is expected to go live after a week.

The platform will also offer end-to-end encrypted direct messaging. Android users should download it first. The feature was initially tested in 2018, but was quickly abandoned.

The company is also enabling Twitter Blue customers to upload 60-minute videos with a 2GB file size limit in an effort to make Twitter more creator-friendly. However, longer videos can only be uploaded online.
