Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill giving 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in the state. From now onwards, 27 per cent reservation in government jobs and education will be given to OBCs in Madhya Pradesh. The OBCs used to get 14 per cent reservation in the state so far, but will get 27 per cent reservation from now on after the bill is passed. The government had in the Cabinet meeting on June 4 allowed 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in the state, after which the bill has now been passed and there is a wave of happiness among the OBCs in the state. The ordinance was also issued, but ten days later the verdict was challenged in the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the court stayed it. So far, the SCs and STs in the state are getting 36 per cent reservation. The state government will now have to change the rules of recruitment in all its departments.
