Mumbai: The second wave of corona is quite dangerous and now there are indications of its third wave coming. In the third wave, young children are said to be at the highest risk of infection. In view of all this, state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has decided to set up an independent task force for children in consultation with some paediatricians in the state. However, a large number of corona infections have been detected in young children in Pune even before the third wave struck. Looking at the figures for the past year, 2.25 lakh children were tested for corona in Pune. Out of these, 249 children under the age of 1 are said to have been diagnosed with corona infection. Keeping this in mind, the Health Department has advised to take special care of young children. On the other hand, it is being said that in the second and third waves, young children, pregnant women and youth are most prone to corona. Keeping these in view, the Task Force of Paediatricians in the State will start functioning soon. The State Government has directed to increase the number of beds in hospitals, to set up ventilators for children, to keep icu beds ready in adequate quantity. At the same time, it is being said that child coweed centres are being set up at many places after the directions.
