PM Modi expresses grief over Raigarh incident, Home Minister speaks to CM Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives due to landslides in Raigarh, Maharashtra. He also wished the injured a speedy recovery. Around 38 people have died due to rock slide near a village in coastal Raigarh district of the State. Police said, the death toll in the incident in Talai village of Mahad tehsil may increase. Now, in the meantime, PM Modi has expressed grief.

In a tweet on Twitter, he wrote, "Saddened by the death of people due to landslide in Raigarh, Maharashtra. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased. I wish the injured a speedy recovery. The situation arising out of heavy rains in Maharashtra is being monitored and assistance is being provided to the affected people." Talking about Union Home Minister Amit Shah besides him, he spoke to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, He said, the Union Government is doing everything possible to save the lives of the people.

At the same time, he has taken to Twitter to express grief and write, "The incident caused by heavy rains and landslides in Raigarh, Maharashtra is very sad. In this regard, I have spoken to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and the Director General of NDRF. NDRF teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations. The Central Government is providing all possible help to save the lives of the people." Many parts of Maharashtra have been receiving incessant rain for the last several days, which has also led to many accidents. Not long ago, a police officer said, "30 bodies have been recovered so far from the landslide site. Locals say more people are feared trapped under the debris."
