Kolkata: West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo Mamta Banerjee says that under the Trinamool Congress rule in the state, the average annual income of farmers has tripled in the last eight years. Mamta Banerjee, while paying tribute to former PM and farmers leader Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary, said that during this period, the distribution of Kisan Credit Card has increased two and a half times. Mamta Banerjee tweeted that, 'Tribute to former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary. This day is also celebrated as Farmers Day. My best wishes to all the farmers on this occasion. Mamta Banerjee said, 'The average annual income of farmers has tripled from Rs 91,000 (in 2010-11) to Rs 2.91 lakh (in 2018). The distribution of Kisan Credit Cards increased by two and a half times from 27 lakhs in 2011 to 69 lakhs in 2019. Our government in West Bengal is committed to the welfare of farmers. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, while referring to the crop insurance policy in the states, said that her government operated it without any help from the Center. He stressed that about 72 lakh farmer families would benefit from the 'Krishak Bandhu' scheme launched by his government.
