Mamata Banerjee raises questions on Centre's vaccination campaign

Kolkata: Allegations and counter-allegations are common between the Centre and the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal. The Mamata Banerjee administration, while questioning the government-run vaccination campaign data on Saturday, said the data was wrong. On the one hand, the state health department has claimed that at least 15,707 people were vaccinated on the first day in West Bengal.

In a tweet, the Union health ministry said that only 9730 people were vaccinated in West Bengal. A high-rein in the West Bengal government said on Saturday that 20,700 people were targeted for vaccination, out of which 15,707 people were vaccinated, about 75.9%. While 92% target could have been achieved in Kolkata, 100% target was achieved in some districts like Jhargram.

While in a tweet late Saturday night, the Union Health Ministry said that out of a total of 191,181 beneficiaries, only 9730 were from West Bengal, which is less than 50% of the target set by the state. On this, state Health Secretary NS Nigam said, "It is not correct. We are talking to the central government about it. Earlier, West Bengal cm Mamata Banerjee had on Saturday requested the central government to send an adequate supply of corona vaccine to all citizens in the diocese and said that her government is ready to bear the cost.
