Man gets 7-year captivity for raping minor in Karnataka

Karnataka: In a case of abducting and raping a young girl student in 2014, the sessions and fast track special court-1 in Karnataka sentenced a guy to seven years in jail. In August 2014, the man was found guilty of kidnapping the girl, locking her in a lodge, and rapping her.

Irfan (28), a native of Kotekar village's Deralakatte, had been acquainted with the girl who was studying for the PU and frequently spoke with her on the phone. After convincing the girl that he loved her, he intercepted her at Natekal on her way to college in August 2014, abducted her in a car, drove her to a lodge in Chikkamagaluru, and raped her there. He also threatened to kill her if she told anyone else about the incident.

Under the POCSO Act, the guy was sentenced to seven years in prison and a fine of Rs 15,000 for rape, three years and a charge of Rs 5,000 for kidnapping, one year and a fine of Rs 2,000 for posing death threat and five months and a fine of Rs 1,000 for intercepting her. If he does not pay the fines, he will be sentenced to more time in prison.
