Mark Boucher, a South African great, has been named the head coach of the five-time IPL champion Mumbai Indians, effective with the 2023 season. The Mumbai Indians promoted Zaheer Khan and Mahela Jayawardene to new positions just days prior to Boucher's hiring, with the goal of enhancing their global brand presence. Jayawardene has been named the franchise's Global Head of Performance. He has also served as the head coach of MI. Boucher, who is now in charge of the men's national team of South Africa, had earlier this week stated he will be leaving the position following the 2018 T20 World Cup. With his lengthy and distinguished career, Boucher holds the record for the most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in a Test match. After retiring, he took over as coach for South Africa's best cricket team, Titans, and guided them to five domestic championships. He was hired as South Africa's head coach in 2019 and oversaw the team's 11 Test victories, 12 ODI victories, and 23 T20I victories. "It is an honor and privilege to be appointed as Head Coach of MI.
