'Cracks have come on walls...', Mayawati writes to CM Yogi over the condition of Dalit monuments

Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former UP CM Mayawati has raised the issue of these Dalit Prerna sites being a victim of poverty due to the non-maintenance of parks built in the memory of The Architect of the Constitution, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and BSP founder Kanshi Ram in Lucknow, the capital of the state.

Writing a letter to CM Yogi on Thursday, the BSP supremo said that in order to keep the memories of Dr Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram immortal, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Social Change Prerna Sthal and Kanshi Ram Green Eco Garden, Buddh Vihar, Kanshi Ram Memorial Site and Shanti Upvan among others. The sites were established as centres of Dalit inspiration. She said that tourists from many countries come to these places every year, but due to the non-maintenance of these places in the last few years, they have become a victim of poverty.

Mayawati said that the negligent and irresponsible thinking of the negligent and irresponsible officials, especially the public servants with an anti-Dalit mentality, is responsible for the pitiable condition of these places of inspiration for Dalit consciousness. Mayawati further said that due to this neglect, there is a crack in the domes and walls at the sites, trees and plants are drying up and the electric bulbs etc. are not replaced when they are damaged.
