Govt further relaxes date to pay insurance premium in view of covid-19

New Delhi: Amid the lockdown implemented across the country, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has given a big relief to insurance policy holders. Sitharaman has announced additional time for policyholders to renew health-motor insurance policy. Sitharaman said that, "Policyholders whose health and motor (3rd party) insurance policies could not renew due to lockdown, the government allowed policyholders to pay their policy renewal on or before 15 May 2020" Is given. "

The Finance Minister said that this is for the policies due from March 25 to May 3 to ensure payment during this period without any problems. It is noteworthy that the government said on Wednesday that 'during the lockdown period, crop insurance claims of Rs 2,424 crore of farmers in 12 states have been settled.

The Union Agriculture Ministry said that during the lockdown period, it has taken several other steps to facilitate farmers and farming activities. Under the Prime Minister Crop Insurance Scheme (PMFBY), insurance claims worth Rs 2,424 crore have been distributed to beneficiary farmers in 12 regions of the country.
