CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin urged the State Planning Commission on Tuesday to develop plans for the government to generate revenue from tourism, handicrafts, small businesses, and other sources. Stalin also requested that the Commission produce a clear plan of action rather than simply making recommendations to the state administration. He told a meeting of the State Planning Commission that the state's main sources of revenue are document registration and excise duty. Beyond that, plans must be drawn up to generate cash from tourism, handicrafts, small businesses, and other sources, according to Stalin. According to him, industrial development should result in revenue and job creation. Stalin stated that instead of simply giving ideas, the Commission members can travel, meet experts and businessmen, and propose a detailed plan of action to the state government. The Chief Minister also stated that strategies should be in place to ensure that development occurs evenly in all of the state's regions.
