Tamil Nadu: Chennai MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, convened an all-party meeting at the Secretariat on Saturday to examine the state's request for exemption from the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test (NEET). Meanwhile, BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan stormed out of the all-party conference, stating that the NEET resolution is not supported by her party. "The resolution does not have our backing. We did not support the resolution to abolish the NEET exams during the last Assembly session. In Tamil Nadu, we have taken a political stance in support of the NEET exam "Srinivasan stated. The Chief Minister had previously stated on January 6th, "On February 19 of last year, the State Assembly passed a resolution and bill opposing NEET, which was sent to the Governor. The Governor is yet to submit it for President Ram Nath Kovind's approval." The DMK MPs presented the President with a memorandum opposing the NEET exam on February 28, 2021, according to the CM. He went on to say that the Party delegations had requested an appointment with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, but that the minister had turned them down. CM Stalin, speaking on the floor of the Assembly, declared, "Only the wealthy pupils would gain from entrance examination preparation. The NEET exams have increased the cost of education in schools. We can't just stand by and watch."
